Tumbling hand made silver /gold plated ear wires
If I hammer plated metal ear wires i have made and then want to polish them, will they tarnish at the ends? or will they polish up?

They may polish up, but there's a very good chance that the plating will come off....either during hammering or during tumbling. The new silver-filled wire seems to hold up OK during the tumbling process and can be lightly hammered. But many plated items are transformed in the tumbler and not in a good way.
While tumbling polishes metal, it in no way prevents metal from tarnishing.
