removing permalac from copper

What is the best way to remove permalac EF from copper? I want to re-do the finish. Thanks!

Hi Louise!

To remove Permalac lacquer (ER or regular), you must apply lacquer thinner to the product to dissolve and remove it. I use M.E.K. (methyl ethyl ketone) found in the paint department at stores such as Home Depot and Lowe's.

After removing the lacquer, thoroughly clean the metal and then re-apply the patina. Not a fun chore!
