Buffing earring wires
My sister gave me a beautiful pair of earrings where the wires are Sterling silver but too thick to put into my ear lobe. I tried to sand one wire down so it is not so thick and need to smooth it down to shine it up again while thinning it at the same time. Any suggestions

I assume the wires are not removable? While you could file and sand down the wires until they are comfortably thin enough, and then re-polish (a long and tedious process) a less time-consuming solution would be to simply replace the ear-wires with ones better suited to your ears.
