do you dilute the ferric chloride etching solution

When using ferric chloride to etch copper pieces, do you dilute the FC with water at all?

Stacy's Answer:

No. I use it straight from the bottle as is Denise and then pour it back into the bottle to use again. Mixed in solution with citric acid it becomes known as the “Edinburgh Etch” (Google it for details) which some folks prefer. I haven't found a big difference in the etched results, but you may like them! You can find info on-line about the etch if you wish to try it yourself.
