Tubing, Capping & Riveting

With your own handmade bead caps and rivets, you can add a whole new dimension to your jewelry designs. In this fun, fast-paced workshop you'll create your own unique bead caps and learn to how to cap and core lampwork beads.

Then, we'll take some of the mystery out of riveting as you learn different methods for cold-connecting metal.

Skill Level

All skill levels are welcome.

Tools

Important: There is no need for you to go out and purchase any tools. All tools necessary for completing the project will be available at the workshop. However, some training venues have a smaller tool inventory than others, which may mean sharing.

For that reason, I recommend you bring your own small hand tools (i.e. pliers, cutters, favorite hammer, metal shears, etc.) if you have them. (Note: I usually have quality tools available for purchase at the workshop.) Contact me if you have any questions.

The following is a list of tools that we'll be using during the workshop.

  • Files - large and needle, various sizes
  • Sandpaper (medium to fine grit)
  • Jeweler's saw and blade (blade size determined by metals selected - 2/0 is a good all-purpose blade size)
  • Hammer - ball pein or riveting
  • Bench vise
  • Anvil or bench block
  • Punches or other hard flared tool
  • Sharpie® or other indelible pen
  • Ruler
  • Calipers, Brown and Sharp wire gauge, or other measuring device
  • Center hole punch set
  • Universal eyelet setter (such as found in the scrapbooking section of Jo-Ann stores)
  • Drill and metal drill bit
  • Ring clamp (or other holding device)
  • Ear protection

Fees

Each training venue sets its own workshop fees. You'll find contact information for each venue on my Class Schedule page.

In addition to the workshop fee, a separate materials fee will be paid at the workshop to cover all materials needed to complete the project. The materials fee includes a full-color step-by-step written tutorial.
