— Get Wired!
—
In Basic Wire Jewelry Techniques I & II,
you learned the
fundamentals and have a good grasp of the basic wire skills. You've got
a solid foundation...so now what?
Less
structured than the Basic Wire classes, this ongoing forum is for the
intermediate to advanced student. While learning and developing new
jewelry making skills and discussing your own fresh ideas, this class
focuses on design and encourages individual creative growth.
Part of
the class time is devoted to learning new skills and cold metal
jewelry techniques, while the rest is spent discussing your own design
ideas and helping to bring them to fruition.

Challenging projects, metal etching, different patinas and developing
your own unique style makes this class an invaluable tool for the
aspiring wire jewelry artisan and an enjoyable environment for wire
jewelry enthusiasts.
Recommended
tools to bring to
the class:
- Flush or semi-flush cutters that
will cut up to 12 gauge wire
- Ball
peen or chasing hammer
- Mandrels
of different sizes (knitting needles and round writing pens work well
for this)
- Needle
files

- Sharpie®
or other indelible pen
- Metal forming and shaping tools
Some
tools will be available to borrow. However,
I highly recommend using your own tools. I have quality
tools available for purchase and sources for others.
A $15 MATERIALS FEE
includes all necessary gauges of copper wire and some beads.
A
variety of materials and tools will be available for purchase. Sterling
silver wire will be available at a reasonable market price. Of
course, you may bring
your own.
